Apparently a thorough guide for the professional interior decorator, simply a modest proportion of this book was helpful to me every bit a private individual trying to figure out how to furnish and decorate a regular, centre-class flat. The book has lots to say about vast interiors and enormous budgets, just that is, unfortunately, non my circumstances. What the volume does accept to say virtually principles (what exercise people like and dislike well-nigh a space, how should y'all think about colors and fabrics) was mostly helpful. Even so, I seem to disagree severely with the stylistic choices made by the designers heralded by the book: Many pictures of "good" interior pattern features ornamentation that is purely ornamental. I like pretty things, but I dislike things with no purpose.
Possibly, the rating is unfair: The volume quite clearly states that it is what I discovered information technology to be.
PS. Yes, it is December 24th, and I spend a bunch of the evening reading a book about interior design. Give thanks you lot, Covid-19 and pre-emptive cocky-isolation policies.

It's mediocre and boring. It's by and large textbook data for new aspiring home Designers. Not much here for the everyday reader who is looking for more knowledge. I got this from the library... information technology'south definitely a text volume, and on the whole, the rooms presented were really dated and apathetic. In so many pictures - with the poor, very beige lighting (or perhaps that was the choice of fair paper for the volume?) - I wouldn't have posted them on my Pinterest. There's a range of styles inside, and I liked some of the vignettes, but in that location was no room that caught my fancy. I guess it's just American Comfort at bazaar prices? I skimmed the writing and was not fatigued in. I'd read virtually of the material elsewhere, and while information technology seems nicely compiled here, I would simply recommend this book to a commencement interior design student.

Was interesting to acquire the pattern principles backside formal interior design thinking. Standard measurements and guides to drawing/planning were very helpful. Assumed the reader was designing for a generously sized space and was lacking in aid for pocket-sized urban flat design on a modest upkeep.
A text book for the interior blueprint student or fan. Very comprehensive.
